About me
First things first, I’m a flawed human. I want to point that out, because I’ve had some people tell me that they think therapists are “too perfect” to be relatable, when that honestly couldn’t be further from the truth! I make mistakes, I’ve got my own challenges, and I’m learning and growing just like you. So if you’re looking for a therapist who’s perfect, I ain’t the one!
Now that my disclaimer is out of the way, let me introduce myself. I’m Lauren, licensed clinical social worker and therapist since 2018. I’ve always loved getting to know others on an authentic level, even back when I was a little kid. While I’m pretty good at making small talk (wow, the weather is really weathering today!), open and honest conversations have always been my favorite. I enjoy seeing things from my clients’ perspectives, and it feels like such an honor to learn what life is like for them.
So why did I choose a background in social work? I believe that our environment has a major impact on our health (mental, emotional, physical, spiritual, sexual—all the healths, really) because none of us live in a vacuum. And maybe this is just my social work lens talking, but I wouldn’t even know how to treat my clients’ mental health without taking their surroundings into consideration. Like, let’s only focus on your neural pathways and not spend any time talking about your overbearing supervisor? Yeah no, I’m never going to say that. I’m here for allllll the tea.
Bonus facts about me: I play the trumpet, I absolutely love memes, I go to the taco truck by my house so often that they have my order memorized, and I have over 2,000 photos of my cats on my phone. Oh, and I go to therapy! In my opinion, every therapist should have their own therapist, because remember, we have struggles too.
